Two juveniles arrested in connection to Cortland Walmart threat

TOWN OF CORTLANDVILLE (WBNG) — The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office says it has identified two juvenile suspects which were the source of the anonymous phone calls that were made to the town of Cortlandville Walmart on the evening of August 10.

The sheriff’s office says on August 10, a Walmart employee received two phone calls that said a person had entered the store with a gun.

Authorities say Walmart employees contacted the Cortland County 911 Center alerting the sheriff’s office of the phone calls.

The sheriff’s office says the two juveniles have been charged with falsely reporting an incident in the 3rd degree and conspiracy on the 6th degree, both misdemeanors.

Authorities say they have confirmed this was an isolated incident.

The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office says both juveniles will be petitioned to the Cortland County Probation Department.

New York State Police and the Cortland City Police Department assisted on the scene.
