(WBNG) — Funeral arrangements have been released for local broadcast legend Bill Parker.
Parker passed away Thursday at Vestal Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. He was 91 years old.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2019 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Thomas J. Shea Funeral Home, Inc. in Binghamton.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Binghamton. A burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery with Military Honors.
In his obituary, family ask in lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Bill’s memory to the Broome County Veterans Association.
Parker’s first on-air job in Binghamton was at WNBF Radio in 1948. He helped launch WNBF-TV 12 (now WBNG) the following year.
His obituary reads in part, “he loved his community but most of all his family; known for always having a joke or a trick to share and to see his family smile were some of his greatest joys.”
