VESTAL (WBNG) — Eager freshmen are taking the first steps to adulthood by moving into their new college dorms.
“They seem excited and it’s giving me flashbacks of when I moved in, memories of my first day,” said Andrew Scavo, a Sophomore at Binghamton University and a member of this year’s “welcome crew”.
Freshmen unpacking their things, say they’re excited.
“Living on my own, making new friends, knowing what I want to do,” said Rebecca Bialek, an incoming freshman.
For Bialek’s sister, she’s ready for her sister to embark on a new adventure.
“To be able explore and find new friends, and get a life outside of school,” said Olivia Bialek, Rebecca’s younger sister.
For the parents of these new students though, saying goodbye is bittersweet.
“I think right now, the feelings are really positive. As I’m on my way home, I’ll cry my eyes out, but right now, all good,” said Amy Bialek, Rebecca’s mother.
Sophomores and upperclassmen begin moving in on Monday, with classes starting Wednesday, August 21.
