VESTAL (WBNG) — Binghamton University is welcoming new students to its growing population, which is the largest enrollment yet.
School officials say the university received more than 45,000 applications this year, including freshmen, transfer and graduate students.
They’re a diverse group coming from right here in Broome County, out of state, and even other countries,
adding to BU’s growing population.
“We anticipate that we will cross the 18,000 mark this fall it’s by far the largest that Binghamton’s enrollment has been historically,” said BU Provost Don Nieman.
He’s excited for the school’s new Health Sciences Campus being built in Johnson City. Nieman said, “That is a major undertaking it’s going to have a huge impact on the Johnson City community but its also going to expand our capabilty in healthcare and our collaborations with local providers.”
Wednesday was the first day of the fall semester.
