Hundreds take part in annual Trail of Truth Memorial March

BINGHAMTON (WBNG) – Hundreds of people marched in downtown Binghamton Saturday to pay tribute to the local lives lost due to drug overdoses.

The fourth annual Trail of Truth Memorial March started at the Peacemakers Stage.

A family memorial cemetery filled the grassy areas to honor the children, parents and loved ones who lost their battles with drug addiction.

Truth Pharm says the main mission of the march is to stop the surge of overdoses in Broome County and show support to their families.

“We don’t just want people here who have lost a loved one. We want our community here showing them that they care about them and they are supporting them and that they also believe that their loved ones life matters,” said Alexis Pleus from Truth Pharm.

Before the march, participants had the chance to do Narcan training and listen to speakers and live music.

Parents and children who lost a loved one to drug overdoses also received a gift from Truth Pharm, a necklace with a picture of their loved one.

Participants then marched to the Governmental Plaza to watch a live art performance by families effected by drug overdoses.
