“Mudcat” All-Star Golf Tournament thanks its community supporters at sponsor party

BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — Community members met celebrity baseball stars at Wednesday evening’s sponsor party preceding the Jim “Mudcat” Grant All-Star Golf Tournament.

Dozens of big name sports celebrities are in the lineup for Thursday’s tournament which raises money to benefit local organizations.

Sponsors of the event were invited to meet these big names and celebrate the spirit of the event Wednesday at the Security Mutual Life building.

Some sponsors come as far as Albany and many left with signatures from the all-star players.

“These players that come in, these are legends that are here, but also they’re legends in life,” says Bruce Boyea, C.E.O. of Security Life Mutual, “they’re great people and they want to give back, they care and they spend time with these different organizations and try to inspire the youth of today.”

The tournament supports the Boys and Girls Club, Urban League, CHOW Food Pantries  and Catholic Charities, with the hopes to raise $10,000 for each.
