BINGHAMTON (WBNG) – United Way of Broome County held it’s annual kickoff event Thursday at the Broome County Regional Farmer’s Market.
Organizers say it’s a chance to show how support from local businesses can help them make a difference in the community.
Besides a nice dinner, awards were given out to people and companies who helped raise significant funds for United Way.
The organization says the event is their way to say thank you.
“Every year, we have the opportunity to start brand new and this is our opportunity to take our first step in the 2019-2020 campaign season as well as thank those who work so hard for us all year long,” said the executive director for United Way of Broome County, Jacqueline Gerchman.
United Way also highlighted some new initiatives for this year’s campaign.
Gerchman says last season more than 113,000 lives were impacted by United Way and their services.
