BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — RoberCon is taking center stage at the Roberson Museum and Science Center this weekend.

The event is a two-day convention filled with table-top games, comic books, cosplay contests, and all areas of fandom. RoberCon welcomes everyone to geek out and express themselves.

Natalie Shoemaker, Roberson’s Marketing and Events Coordinator, said the Museum is happy to provide a space for people to relax and share their interests with one another.

“RoberCon is our great, big love letter to the geek community here in Binghamton, New York,” Shoemaker said.

In its sixth year, the event has some new additions and activities. An entire floor will be dedicated to table-top gaming and developers will be coming to showcase their games.

Local and state-wide authors will be providing writing workshops to attendees. Fantasy author, David B. Coe, will be in attendance to give tips to budding writers.

There will also be panels on Star Wars, Harry Potter, Stranger Things, and more. There’s a little bit of RoberCon for every individual to enjoy. Fans of science fiction are in for a treat.

“If you’re a fan of any of these things, you’re welcome here,” Shoemaker said.

In addition to Saturday and Sunday’s events, on Saturday, the party will continue with RoberCon After Dark. The Holiday Inn in downtown Binghamton will be hosting a free event, open to the public, that will allow guests to compete against each other in games, explore the library, or make new friends at the bar.

“The overall goal is to get people to connect,” Shoemaker said. “We really want to bring people together, bring geeks together, to really enjoy not just each other’s company — but also to be able to share their passions”

The ticket sales, as compared to last year, are already ahead. Tickets are available online or at the door.

Proceeds from RoberCon will go support the Roberson Museum’s education and outreach programs in the local area.

RoberCon will be Saturday and Sunday and run from 9:30 a.m. until 5 p.m.
