TIOGA CENTER (WBNG) — Tioga Central High School is one of the 19 New York schools to be recognized as a 2019 National Blue Ribbon School.
Schools are awarded this award based on their academic excellence for making progress in improving student academic achievement levels.
The schools are recognized in one of two performance categories, Exemplary High performing and Exemplary Improving.
Tioga Center was recognized in the Exemplary High Performing category for a number things including their State Test Scores and Graduation rates.
Principal Joshua Roe says the success comes down to his staff.
“My staff is amazing, top to bottom this is from our transportation, food service, teachers, support staff. Everyone here cares about the kids and that is the single most effective way to get them motivated to pass these tests and graduate.”
362 schools across the country were recognized for the blue ribbon award.
A delegation of educators from Tioga will attend the awards ceremony in November in Washington D.C.
