Halloween costume giveaway brings sweet smiles

VESTAL (WBNG) — The United Way of Broome County partnered up with the Vestal Rotary Club for the third annual Halloween costume giveaway.

With over 200 costumes available to choose from, children couldn’t be more thrilled.

“They come in ready. They have their list of these are the ones they want. Believe it or not, from younger children to older children this year, there was a big demand for dinosaurs,” said Lori Welch, operations and development director for the United Way of Broome County.

For organizers, they say the giveaway takes the burden of Halloween costume shopping off the parents.

“The look on their parents faces, especially parents that come in with several children. You know that this really helps them give their kids the Halloween costumes they might not have been able to purchase,” said President of the Vestal Rotary Club, Siobhan Davey.

The United Way of Broome County and the Vestal Rotary Club collect Halloween costumes and donations throughout the year to support local children.
