Forecast Discussion:

A stagnant weather pattern persists through Friday before slowly breaking down Saturday with the passage of a cold front.

The low pressure off the East Coast looks to remain far enough east of the area to preclude any significant, or widespread precipitation through Friday night. A few showers could possibly migrate into the Catskills or Poconos Thursday and Friday, but overall, we anticipate a lot more dry time than wet. Clouds vary across the area tonight and probably through Thursday, too. More sun is expected near and west of Binghamton and more persistent cloud-cover is expected east of Binghamton, closer to the low. Lows tonight range from the 30s where skies are clearest west, to the mid 40s east.

Thursday could be a bit of a breezy day at times toward the Catskills as an increasing atmospheric pressure gradient builds between high pressure in the Gulf of St. Lawrence and the cut-off low off the East Coast. Winds could gust 20-25mph at times. Highs range in the 50s to low and mid 60s west.

Friday brings more clouds for everyone. We currently expect mostly cloudy to cloudy skies and highs near 60. Lows stay in the 40s.

A cold front will move Saturday and bring the chance of showers. The chance of rain Saturday is 30%. The front clears the area and high pressure builds in Sunday. Sunshine returns with highs near 60. Monday and Tuesday are quiet with highs around 60 each day. Some showers could return Wednesday with highs near 57. The chance of rain is 30%.
