Binghamton veteran set to walk from Washington, D.C. to Florida, all for charity

JOHNSON CITY (WBNG) — A Binghamton veteran is gearing up to walk from Washington, D.C. to Florida, all to raise money for charity.

Garry Jones is aiming to raise $50,000.

Jones plans to leave this Friday October 25 from the White House and arriving in Panama City, Florida by December 1.

Jones plans to raise money for charities that support causes including heart disease, cancer and our local veterans.

Several of those causes hit close to home for the local, saying, “I lost my father my mother and my brother due to heart [disease] at a very young age.”

While Jones has a long road ahead of him, he says his motivation comes from his family and his own two feet.

“Once I make my mind up to do something, there ain’t no changing it.”

If you would like to support Jones’ walk, you can donate here or here.
