Business owners cultivate relationships at Food and Farm expo

BINGHAMTON ( WBNG) — The Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce, Cornell Cooperative Extension and Taste NY hosted a food and farm expo at the DoubleTree hotel in Binghamton on Tuesday.

Business owners learned how to become distribution and retail ready through workshops.

Regional farmers and food and beverage producers displayed their products for attendees to sample, encouraging buyers to support local vendors. Products ranged from food, beverages, candles, soaps and more.

Vendors at the expo say events such as this create an intimate setting to make important connections.

“It only takes one connection, if you had thousands and thousands of people it doesn’t necessarily mean you’re going to do business. An event like this is very intimate, you get a chance to talk one-on-one and build relationships, you get a chance to tell your story.” said Eric Cole the Vice President of Java Joe’s Roasting Company in Binghamton.

The event featured 50 vendors from the Southern Tier and around New York State, over 70 buyers were registered to attend the expo.
