Nathan’s Butterflies was the recipient of this week’s $2,000 grant from Upstate Shredding for Southern Tier Tuesdays.
Founder of the organization, Ben Cucci (age 9), and his grandmother, Francis Bidwell, who is the president of Nathan’s Butterflies, received the award on Around the Tiers.
Nathan’s Butterflies started after Ben’s little brother, Nathan, passed away when he was just nine days old. Ben wanted to honor his younger brother by starting Nathan’s Butterflies and doing acts of kindness around the community.
The mission of Nathan’s Butterflies is to inspire children in the value of kindness and empathy with the support of kindness projects. Recently, the organization held a backpack program collecting school supplies at Tioga Hills School and built “kindness corners” in school libraries filled with books about kindness.
Ben says the money they received will fund pending kindness projects. For more information on Nathan’s Butterflies, click here.
