Thousands without power in Broome County Thursday afternoon

2:17 p.m. UPDATE

NYSEG has informed us that they have restored power to most of the affected customers. There are still over one-thousand people without power.

NYSEG said the outage is due to equipment issues and the are attempting repairs.

2:04 p.m. UPDATE

BROOME COUNTY (WBNG) — As of 2:04 p.m., NYSEG reports that the number of customers without power is 2,700.

NYSEG told 12 News that they are still determining the cause of the power outage.

BROOME COUNTY (WBNG) — The NYSEG website reports more than 8,000 customers without power Thursday afternoon.

That includes more than 4,000 customers in the town of Chenango.

An alert, also sent out by SUNY Broome, saying the school was experiencing a power outage.

12 News has reached out to NYSEG to find out a cause.
