BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — Friday night kicked off Section IV Championship weekend with Class A and Class D matchups. Both Union-Endicott and Tioga came out on top to win Section IV titles.
FINAL SECTION IV FOOTBALL SCORES
Class A Section IV Championship
Union-Endicott 39 (2-7), Vestal 6 (1-8)
Zachary Pilarcek had three touchdown passes for the Tigers. U-E held Vestal to zero first downs in the entire first half.
“We were just lucky early on players made some plays and in some opportune times and that was really nice to see. We’ve matured and gotten better week in and week out. We probably played one of our best games all season, and that is when it is supposed to happen right when you go into the games that really matter, when it is do or die,” said Union-Endicott head coach Tommy Baleno.
“It was amazing, it was a team win, we pounded the ball down. I mean we did throw but our run game really set us up for the pass,” said Union-Endicott quarterback Zachary Pilareck.
Class D Section IV Championship
Tioga 44 (10-0), Walton 36 (2-8)
Tied at 36 with less than five minutes to play, Tioga quarterback Brady Worthing scored the game winning touchdown to punch the Tigers a ticket back to states. Worthing was named Class D Section IV Finals MVP.
“It feels great just knowing we put the work in to get there and we accomplished that goal, and now we’re heading back,” said Worthing.
“Utmost respect for these guys, had to play well to beat them. And we did, we played well enough when we needed to, and we came out one score ahead, similar to the last game. But that’s a heck of a Walton team, and a heck of a football game and we knew it would be,” said Tioga head coach Nick Aiello.
Section IV Championships continue on Saturday. Susquehanna Valley takes on Windsor at 3 p.m., and Chenango Forks faces Maine-Endwell at 6 p.m. Both games will be at Johnson City High School.
