VESTAL (WBNG) — The famous red kettles and ringing bells are popping up throughout the Southern Tier so you can donate back to your community.
If you don’t often have cash in your wallet, the Salvation Army has a solution for you. This year, they’re rolling out “Kettle Pay”, a feature that allows you to use your phone to make a donation.
“Basically all you have to do is pull up your Google Pay or Apple Pay, scan the little disk, and it’ll take you straight to the donation site,” said Capt. Joseph Hansen with the Salvation Army.
Red kettle donations account for about 20 percent of the Salvation Army of Binghamton’s annual budget. Donating digitally or in cash goes a long way.
“If you have the means to give, drop a few cents into the bucket. Everything counts. Every drop in the bucket goes toward our funding and our services and programs,” said Hansen.
