Tractor-trailer sideswipes New York State Police vehicle; driver charged with DWI

NICHOLS (WBNG) — A driver of a tractor-trailer has been charged with a DWI after sideswiping a New York State Police vehicle.

According to State Police, the state trooper was finishing up a traffic stop in Nichols when 35-year-old Darvi Maureland hit the side of the police vehicle in a tractor-trailer, and kept driving. Maureland was later pulled over by Tioga County Sheriff’s Deputies at Exit 64 in Owego.

The state trooper was transported to Lourdes Hospital, but is expected to be okay.
