More than 10 cars involved in crash on I-81 in Broome County, highway reopened

UPDATE: 2:00 P.M.

CASTLE CREEK (WBNG) — New York State Police say that Interstate 81 has reopened following the crash.

More than 10 care were involved and it shut down part of the highway.

Troopers remind everyone to use caution on all roadways.

CASTLE CREEK (WBNG) — The Broome County Sheriff’s Office says more than 10 cars are involved in a crash on Interstate 81 southbound.

511NY says this is in the area of Exit 7.

They called the road “a sheet of ice.”

The Sheriff’s Office says there are minor injuries as a result of the crash.

The 511NY website says southbound traffic is being diverted at exit 7 and brought back on at exit 6.

The Sheriff’s Office says deputies, New York State Police and Chenango Fire are all on scene.

The Sheriff’s Office urges people to stay off the roads if possible.
