BINGHAMTON (WBNG) -- On World Disabilities Day, Broome-Tioga BOCES' PALS program hosted a special event.

The goal is to promote the rights and well-being of people with disabilities in society, and to increase awareness.

PALS (Preparation for Adult Living Success), one of the special education programs, had plenty of free games and activities for kids of all ages.

They provided activities like aerobic drumming, card making for the community, an interactive animal encounter and much more.

It's all to give people of all different abilities equal chances to have fun all together.

"I thought this day would be real fun with my family and my friends," says Xavier Barrows, who attended the event. "I'm really excited."

This was the first year Broome-Tioga Boces is holding a World Disabilities Day celebration.

Officials say this will be an ongoing tradition, as one way they can celebrate the abilities of all individuals.
