Endicott police alerting individuals of phone scams, users claiming to be police officers

ENDICOTT (WBNG) -- The Endicott Police Department is alerting people of a phone scam with the caller identifying themselves as an Endicott police officer.

In a Facebook post, Endicott police say the caller identifies themselves as "Officer Billings." They say its a "typical" Social Security Number or IRS call.

They say although the phone scammer's number matches that of the police department's, it is NOT the Endicott Police calling.

The Endicott Police Department says it will never ask individuals for this information.
