Sessoms drops 40, Bearcats come out on top in Battle of BU’s

VESTAL (WBNG) -- The Binghamton Bearcats topped former America East rival Boston University in an overtime victory Saturday afternoon.

The Bearcats and Terriers went back and forth during regulation, with Boston University senior forward Max Mahoney forcing overtime with 32 seconds left on the clock.

Sam Sessoms secured the Binghamton lead for good in overtime with 4:25 to play. Sessoms scored nine points in overtime, and finished with a school-record 40 points. He also scored a school-record 15 field goals.

Senior Richard Caldwell finished with a double-double, with 11 points and 13 rebounds. Freshman Brenton Mills added 12 points in the win.

Binghamton - 84 (5-5), Boston University - 79 (3-7)

The Bearcats travel to Youngstown State on December 18.
