Suspect arrested, charged following high-speed chase Thursday

3:30 P.M. UPDATE:

CHENANGO BRIDGE (WBNG) -- The Broome County Sheriff's Office says one person was arrested following a high-speed chase that occurred early Thursday morning.

The sheriff's office says 25-year-old Paul A. Frost of Johnson City was arrested and charged with criminal mischief in the 2nd degree, a class D felony. He was also charged with a misdemeanor and 31 vehicle and traffic violations, authorities noted.

They say Frost was spotted travelling at a "high rate of speed" on Glenwood Road in the town of Dickinson. The sheriff's office attempted to conduct a traffic stop but Frost did not comply, they say.

Authorities say the chase continued onto Airport Port, the city of Binghamton, Route 7 and eventually Route 88 where the chase ended with Frost crashing his vehicle.

They say his vehicle caught fire but was later put out by a deputy with an extinguisher.

The sheriff's office says two other occupants were in the vehicle with Frost. They were taken into custody but released without charges, they say.

Frost was taken to the Broome County Sheriff's Office where he was processed on his charges.

The New York State Police aided in the investigation.
