OWEGO (WBNG) -- An Owego man was renovating a nearby home when he stumbled upon historical artifacts hidden in the attic.
Steven Ulrich was working on an Owego home when, inside the attic, he found old newspapers, journals and more.
The papers dated back to 1882 and 1883 with one priced at just three cents.
The articles inside described deals on live stock and a story about missing ships.
While the newspapers ranged from across the country, some came from Tioga County, specifically Owego and even mentioned Binghamton.
For Ulrich, an Owego native, the artifacts shed a light on his own history.
"It's neat, it's our past, my family's from here so I don't know maybe I'll look through it again later and maybe I find a long lost relative or something."
