BINGHAMTON (WBNG) -- Broome County realtors gathered for a seminar for updates on flood concerns in our area Tuesday afternoon.
Jim Rollo of State Farm held the presentation for 120 local realtors at Taste of New York on Upper Front Street.
Six speakers covered topics ranging from flood insurance requirements, to flood map revisions, and an update from Mayor Rich David about the city's flood wall and levee certification.
It's all to help home buyers and new residents understand the area's history with flooding and protecting them as well as their property.
"A: is the property in a flood zone today, yes or no? B: did it flood in '06? Did it flood in 2011? And is it preliminary going to be mapped into a flood zone? So those are some of the questions that we want to make sure home buyers can answer or even know to ask those questions," says Jim Rollo, owner of Jim Rollo State Farm.
Currently 7000 properties in Broome County are on a preliminary flood zone mapping list.
