BINGHAMTON (WBNG) -- The new addition to the campus in downtown Binghamton was built inside the historic Carnegie Library.

Built in 1903 the library still retains its historic charm, from the restored woodwork down to the plaster.

The library has been brought into the 21st century with state-of-the-art kitchens, a full mixology lab, and high tech classroom spaces.

It's all part of an effort to restore the past for a better future.

"We are now a presence in downtown, and we want to contribute to the local economy, and we have urban regenerated and fixed the broken tooth in that smile of court street, this is now a gleaming gem to that." said Rey Wojdat the chair of hospitality programs.

The culinary arts degree at Suny Broome provides students with hands on opportunities to turn their passions for the kitchen into a rewarding career.
