(WBNG) -- Joe Angelino announced his bid for New York State Assembly in the 122nd District for the 2020 election.
The announcement follows current Assemblyman Clifford W. Crouch's (R-Bainbridge) decision to not seek reelection.
Angelino is running as a republican.
The candidate says he will fight for "Upstate values" and "common sense" in a press release sent to 12 News.
“New York State government is moving in the wrong direction. Andrew Cuomo and the Downstate liberal politicians are pushing a hard left agenda that helps criminals while ignoring crime victims, raises taxes, exports our jobs and young people, and infringes on our rights,” he said.
Angelino is a combat veteran who served in the Middle East during the 1990s and early 2000s. He also served as the Norwich Chief of Police and fire chief.
