PORT CRANE (WBNG) -- New legislation on beer tax is on tap for local brewers.
Thanks to a new bill signed by Governor Andrew Cuomo this week, New York State brewers can now serve beer flights tax-free.
It's a convenience the state's wine industry has enjoyed for years with wine tastings.
Beer Tree Brewery in Port Crane says they've been waiting for the change.
"We've talked about it for a while at the New York State Brewers Association so it's really nice to see it come to fruition and yeah we're excited," said co-owner Chris Rhoades.
Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo co-sponsored the new legislation.
It goes into effect immediately.
