Owego teen signs with Lockheed Martin

Owego (WBNG) -- An Owego teen took some big strides towards his future on Thursday, as he signed an agreement to work with Lockheed Martin after graduation.

Owego Free Academy Senior Jasper Corson had already been working with Lockheed Martin through a high school co-op program for over a year, and will now work full-time after graduation.

Officials with Lockheed Martin say they hope the high school co-op program helps redefine the pipeline from school to career.

"We have to do things differently than we've done in the past. To start to build that bridge with the community and reach out, and hopefully to attract great talents like Jasper to join our team and help us into the future," Lockheed Martin General Manager Hamid Salim noted.

Corson was honored with his own signing ceremony in the high school lobby, where he described his experience as invaluable.

"I've had many mentors, so I'd like to thank them. You can't replace it when they have thirty or forty years of experience. You can't replace that," Corson said.

Corson is one of five students at Owego Free Academy participating in a co-op with Lockheed Martin.
