NY man charged with death threat against Schumer, Schiff

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) - A western New York man is charged with threatening to kill U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer and Rep. Adam Schiff because he was angered over the impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump.

The U.S. Attorney's Office says 57-year-old Salvatore Lippa of the Rochester suburb of Greece was charged Wednesday with leaving voice mail threats against the New York senator and California representative, both Democrats.

Lippa made an initial federal court appearance and was released with orders to undergo a mental health evaluation.

A message was left for his defense attorney.
