NEW YORK (WBNG) -- Governor Andrew Cuomo is calling for more ventilators to be sent to New York as the number of reported coronavirus cases continues to climb.
Cuomo says the "apex" of the outbreak is at least two weeks away. He says the height of the virus is higher and coming more soon than previously estimated.
He says the state needs 30,000 ventilators.
The governor says projections show that the state may also need to 140,000 hospital beds for victims of virus.
New York has the most reported cases of the coronavirus in the country.
The governor's Tuesday news conference was held at the Javits Covention Center.
