SungEel MCC Americas to answer questions on Endicott battery recycling plant

SUNGEEL

ENDICOTT (WBNG) -- If you have questions about the proposed battery recycling plant in Endicott, now is the time to speak up.

After months of silence from the company, SungEel MCC Americas, a spokesperson says they will answer questions over a Zoom call on June 30. The meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday night.

You have until June 26 to submit your quesitons online. You can do so here.

The DEC says construction on the facility is currently on hold. Back in May, they sent SungEel a letter saying the company needs to provide additional plans and proof a certain chemical group called PFAS won't be used in its process.

A spokesperson from SungEel said in a statement, "In keeping with SungEel MCC America’s ongoing commitment to transparency, the lithium-ion battery recycling company will hold a community forum to address the public’s questions regarding the construction and operation of a new recycling facility set to open in Endicott. The forum will take place on Tuesday, June 30 at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom. In the interest of time, members of SungEel’s leadership will only address questions submitted by 5 p.m. on Friday, June 26 via an online submission form."
