(WBNG) -- The Broome County Department of Parks, Recreation and Youth Services has temporarily closed the beaches at Greenwood Park in Lisle.
The department says sampling of the water shows E-coli levels are above acceptable.
E-coli naturally occurs in bodies of water. Levels of it usually fluctuate through the season.
The department says it made this decision early as a protective measure.
A second test of the water has been ordered and the public will be notified when the waterfront is reopened.
Beaches at Cole and Dorchester Park remain open.
