(WBNG) -- This week's winner of Southern Tier Tuesdays $2,000 grant is the Kramer Foundation.
The Kramer Foundation program began in the Elmira school district in 1999 and turned into a non-profit in 2003. They hold reading programs, grade improvement challenges, character education and self-esteem building in pre-schoolers through college-aged individuals. They now foster dogs for deployed soldiers and returning Veterans who seek medical treatment, victims of domestic violence and abuse/neglect court cases.
The Kramer Foundation has fostered over 1,000 dogs and have had dogs placed in 29 states and three countries. Dogs from the foundation have been donated to Law Enforcement, military, search and rescue, Veterans seeking companion dogs, therapy dog homes and just pets once their rehabilitation is done. There are no fees for their services as they rely on grants, fundraisers and donations.
