Southern Tier Tuesdays: Kopernik Observatory and Science Center

Remaining Ad Time Ad - 00:00

(WBNG) -- This week's winner of two thousand dollars is the Kopernik Observatory and Science Center.

Kopernik is the best equipped public observatory in the Northeast and has been a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) resource to the Southern Tier since 1973. The center provides life-long learning through its classes, camps, events and programs.

Normally, they would have hundreds of children at Kopernik during the summertime for camp. But now, due to the pandemic, they are holding virtual camps online. Kopernik currently has openings for their last two summer camps: What's in Your Backyard (for 4th & 5th graders) and Welcome Aboard the ISS (for 5th & 6th graders).

With this grant from Upstate Shredding, Kopernik will put it towards more after-school or weekend learning for children and hopefully provide them with resources to take home with them.

For more, visit their website here or send them an email at info@kopernik.org.
