(WBNG) -- Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf said today in a press conference he recommends youth and school sports be postponed until January 1, 2021.
Governor Wolf's recommendation came after a question was asked about allowing parents to games this fall.
This comes one week after the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association announced the fall season could move forward with changes in place, and no fans in attendance.
"The guidance is that we ought to avoid any congregate settings and that means anything that brings people together is going to help that virus get us," said Governor Wolf. "We ought to do everything we can to defeat that virus. So anytime we get together for any reason, that's a problem because it makes it easier for that virus to spread. So the guidance from us, the recommendation is that we don't do any sports until January 1."
The PIAA says it will meet tomorrow and make an official statement at that time.
