BINGHAMTON (WBNG) -- Local painting company, 3 Dudes and a Paintbrush are continuing their annual backpack drive, but this year, they're giving away a little more.
With back-to-school shopping in full swing, the painting company wanted to help students who are in need of school supplies.
"I'm from the area, so what better to do than to give back directly to the local kids who need it in the area," said Jameel Harris, owner of 3 Dudes and a Paintbrush.
This year, they are hoping to help around 300 to 500 students with new backpacks, school supplies, hand sanitizer, and due to the pandemic, they are adding tablets and laptops.
"I know a lot of the kids are going to be doing some schooling from home. This helps access with getting online and being able to talk to their teachers, all the important stuff they need to do to pass," said Harris.
Julie Morgan's son is the recipient of one of those tablets. She says she feels blessed and grateful for the help. With more than one child, buying those school supplies can add up.
"You can go to the store with those lists and spend a few hundred dollars for all the kids, and then you're thinking, 'Oh, can I get clothes on top of it,'" said Morgan.
She says the new supplies and tablet will make a huge difference for her children that have to learn from home.
If you need school supplies, organizers ask you text 607-245-6030 to reserve your backpack and supplies. The drive starts Sept. 1 at 2 p.m. Below is a list of pick-up locations:
