TOWN OF DICKINSON (WBNG) -- New York State Senator Fred Akshar, along with Town of Dickinson Supervisor Mike Marinaccio, will announce the completion of a clean water project Tuesday morning.

According to an advisory, construction crews have completed the replacement of more than 6,600 feet of piping in a "major water infrastructure project".

Akshar announced in January that the area benefited from more than $1-million through the New York State Department of Health to replace the piping. Akshar said the funding paid for the project without raising taxes or water rates.

Akshar's office previously stated the town had 15 water breaks over a three-week span in August of 2019, highlighting the need for the project.

Akshar and Marinaccio will highlight the project in a news conference Tuesday morning at the Town of Dickinson Water Tower.
