(WBNG) -- Sirens for Santa is this week's winner of Southern Tier Tuesdays two thousand dollar grant from Upstate Shredding.
The organization helps children in need that attend school in the Athens School District. Sirens for Santa began in 2015 by the Athens Township Police Department and has continued to grow since the start. They offer new clothing, backpacks, school necessities and toys for those who need it.
Volunteer, Mike Henrich, says that due to COVID-19, they are expecting an increase in demand for the program. Henrich says that their main focus is to new clothing to children so they are dressed for success and are confident when they return to school after the holidays.
