NEW YORK (WBNG) -- Governor Andrew Cuomo announced a new record high in tests, 134,267, were reported to NY State.
The Governor said in the state, 11 million diagnostic tests have now been conducted in total.
As the rate of positivity has increased in downstate areas like Brooklyn, Queens, and Rockland and Orange counties by a rate of 5.2 percent, Governor Cuomo said the rest of the state saw a positivity rate of 1.01 percent.
"This pandemic is not over. We continue to closely monitor the data throughout the state, push our testing capacity to new highs and keep an especially close eye on the ZIP codes in hot spot areas, which represented 26 percent of yesterday's cases despite being home to 6.7 of the population," he said.
Cuomo said, "We know that washing hands, socially distancing and wearing masks makes all the difference in our ability to tame this beast." He urged residents to remain vigilant and for local governments to enforce restrictions.
Yesterday's reports showed 6 deaths in the state.
