TIOGA/CORTLAND COUNTY (WBNG) -- More than 20 fallen firefighters from New York, including two local firefighters, will be added to the New York State Fallen Firefighters Memorial Wall.
Governor Andrew Cuomo announced as a part of Fire Prevention Week and Firefighter Appreciation Day, the state will engrave the names of 21 fallen firefighters to the New York State Fallen Firefighters Memorial Wall at the Empire State Plaza.
Cuomo says this to the honor the memories and heroism of those who have given their life in the line of duty.
Included in the list of names are two local firefighters; former Homer Fire Department firefighter Robert H. Bush in Cortland County and former fire coordinator in Tioga County, John V. Scott.
Each year during Fire Prevention Week the memory of fallen firefighters is honored by the addition of names to the memorial wall. There will be 2,596 names added after October of this year.
