ONEONTA, N.Y. (WBNG) -- Former SUNY Purchase President Dennis Craig will serve as SUNY Oneonta's president for the foreseeable future.

SUNY Chancellor Jim Malatras made the announcement at the school's campus Thursday afternoon.

President Barbara Morris submitted her resignation to the SUNY Chancellor's Office last week. It was accepted shortly afterward.

She left on her own accord, Malatras says, after virus cases exploded on the school's campus.

Malatras says he has been impressed with the way Craig has been handling the virus at SUNY Purchase.

Craig told 12 News he "feels like he can be helpful" at SUNY Oneonta. At the news conference, he disclosed with media that he was already scheduled for meetings with other officials at the school about its COVID-19 response.
