(WBNG) - Former Section IV athletes Anna Felice and Anna Raymond are adjusting after their college basketball seasons were canceled.
After graduating from Owego Free Academy, Felice began her collegiate career at Brockport. One year later she was preparing for her sophomore season.
"Our first practice was the day we found out our season was canceled so that was a little rough," said Felice.
The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) announced all winter sports had been canceled. Felice then turned to her coach to help her look at the bigger picture.
"People are losing their jobs and stuff so it could be worse," said Felice.
Felice will still have two seasons to look forward to, but not everyone can be so lucky.
Newark Valley graduate Anna Raymond was set to begin her senior season at Morrisville. Her basketball team competes in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC).
"It was really heartbreaking," said Raymond. "We were coming off a season where we lost in the conference championship game so we were looking forward to getting back to that stage."
Raymond is also trying to look at things with the glass half full and enjoy the time she gets to spend on the court.
"I only have eight more months with my team and with my friends so I might as well make the most of it," said Raymond.
Despite the lack of a season both girls continue to put in the hard work and take each practice one at a time.
"We do get a full year to improve our game," said Felice.
"It's really like a 'don't take anything for granted' type of thing," said Raymond.
