BINGHAMTON (WBNG) -- The American Red Cross held three blood drives throughout Broome County.

The organization says there will always be a need for blood, especially during the holidays.

The drives took place at Harvest Binghamton, Taste New York Binghamton and Our Lady of Good Counsel in Endicott.

The organization says they hope Giving Tuesday encourages people to give the gift of life.

Broome County account manager Esperanza Gutierrez says with the holiday season there are still patients in hospitals who need blood.

“We just want to make sure that people take an hour out of their day to roll up a sleeve to do that,” Gutierrez said. “Because they’ll be making a life saving difference in their community and beyond.”

From now until Dec. 15, if you give blood you’re automatically entered for a chance to win an outdoor living experience powered by propane.
