HARRISBURG, Pa. (WBNG) -- The Wolf Administration met to share resources available for military veterans experiencing mental health challenges during the holiday season Tuesday.
The Department of Human Services says with the stressors of a different looking holiday season, those challenges may be felt more by veterans and their loved ones.
To help with the challenges, multiple veteran support centers across the state have received grants to fund programs that help veterans dealing with opioid and alcohol abuse.
Special assistant for Veteran Affairs with PA Department of Military and Veterans Affairs Rick Hamp says these programs have had a great impact on the lives of their veterans.
“Veterans who normally would not have an opportunity to get into a substance abuse program or recovery program through the use of the funding that we’ve received through grants,” Hamp said.
Hamp also mentioned these programs will help veterans to become stable, recover and eventually return to their community.
