VESTAL (WBNG) -- Following Sunday's loss, the Binghamton women's basketball team beat New Hampshire 58-56 to split the two-game series Monday afternoon.
Senior forward Kaylee Wasco scored a career-high 20 points, while sophomore forward Clare Traeger recorded her first career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
After the Bearcats turned the ball over a season-high 24 times Sunday, the Bearcats committed just 11 turnovers this afternoon.
The game came down to the final minute. With 15 seconds to play and the Bearcats down one point, sophomore guard Denai Bowman hit two free throws.
On the other end, Traeger came up with the game winning play, blocking the Wildcats shot and grabbing the rebound to seal the Bearcats win.
"Any time you can get that win, especially with such a young team, for them to see it and for us to embrace it and be excited about it is huge," said coach Bethann Shapiro Ord.
The women's team travels to UMass Lowell Saturday to begin a weekend series. Saturday's game is set for 12 p.m., followed by a 1 p.m. game Sunday.
