(WBNG) -- If the new facility is completed, there could be anywhere from 250 to 300 jobs created.
After a public hearing with no one in attendance, the Town of Kirkwood's Planning Board has given the green light on the site plan for the project. The new facility would be located at the old L3 flight simulator building on Industrial Park Drive.
Delta Engineering, a designer based in Endwell, presented plans at Monday night's meeting. The plan would also include demolishing the old building.
"In times of COVID when we've really been hurt with job losses here, just like the rest of the country has, seeing a project on this scale gives us a lot of hope. I'm really excited for it," said Broome County Executive Jason Garnar.
Garnar says there is a push to get the facility up and running. He estimates the facility could be completed in the next year to 15 months.
