SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WBNG) -- Friday, Syracuse University suspended a Greek Life organization for its involvement with three "large" parties that occurred within the community in the last six days.
In a news release, Syracuse University said 20 new COVID-19 cases can be linked to the parties. They warn that more cases are likely to follow.
The university says the students who attended the parties "will be referred to the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities for Stay Safe Pledge violations and will be charged."
Certain aspects of campus life and academic life are a stake, the University warns, saying a large increase of cases would jeopardize the school's in-learning settings and its ability to welcome students to its stadium.
Syracuse University says it will not tolerate behavior that puts campus community members at risk and would like to remind its students that the pandemic is still ongoing.
