(WBNG) -- Broome County will now allow spectators at "higher risk" high school sporting events with some restrictions.
The restrictions are:
- School districts or recreational leagues must have included in their plans how to comply with venue guidance (if applicable), capacity limits, and NYS gathering guidance.
- If the school district and venue size permits, no more than two spectators per home student-athlete may be permitted.
- Plan must include a social distancing enforcement plan for spectators.
Spectators will be allowed into sporting events starting Monday.
County officials say high schools can still choose whether or not they want spectators at events.
New York State announced high-risk high school sporting events could take place with permission from local health departments in early February.
