(WBNG) -- The Tina Fund is the winner of a two-thousand dollar grant from Upstate Shredding through Southern Tier Tuesdays.
The mission of the Tina Fund is to alleviate the financial burden that breast cancer patients experience during treatment.
The Tina Fund helps with personal and medical bills, transportation, food, utility payments, housing and more.
The non-profit was created eleven years ago in memory of Tina M. Turner of Greene, who passed away after being diagnosed with Stage 1 breast cancer.
Tina's sister, Shelly Howell, says their annual fundraisers were canceled due to the pandemic, so she is grateful for the Southern Tier Tuesday grant.
The Tina Fund also awards a scholarship each year to a student pursuing a degree in a medical field.
